Mason is a large city located in Warren County, Ohio. It is positioned between Dayton, Ohio and Cincinnati, Ohio. Mason is located about 25 miles north of Cincinnati and about 30 miles south of Dayton. Mason is considered a suburb of Cincinnati and is one of the largest cities in Warren County. In 2016, it was estimated by the United States Census Bureau that almost 35,000 people lived in Mason.
Mason, Ohio is located in an area originally inhabited by Native American Indians. After the turn of the 19th century, William Mason, a Revolutionary War veteran, purchased 640-acres of land in what is now downtown Mason. He platted 16 lots on his land formed a village known as Palmira. After the death of William Mason, his land was divided into more plots and the spelling of the village’s name was changed. Eventually, the name of the village was changed to Mason. In 1969, Mason was incorporated as a city.
Since its humble beginnings as a small village, Mason has developed as a progressive and growing city. Today, Mason is a destination for corporations seeking a thriving business environment. The city is also attractive to families seeking beautifully landscaped neighborhoods and nationally ranked schools.
